Beanie Boos TY – Beanie Boo Values

in Uk

Beanie Boos by Ty were introduced in June 2009. They are similar to Beanie Babies but they have larger eyes and bigger heads. They come in many different animal styles.

Beanie Boos was first sold in the United Kingdom. There were seven different styles. Then in 2009 six Boos that were slightly modified versions of the original seven were released in the United States.

In March 2010 Ty introduced two new sizes of Beanie Boos. The medium sized 13 inch Boos that were originally called Buddies.  And the five inch key clips that were originally called Boo Boos. Then in January 2012 Ty introduced the large sixteen inch Boos.

Some of the Beanie Boo has gone up in value since they were introduced because they were retired and many collectors still wanted them. When Ty “retires” a product it means that the product is no longer manufactured. It comes down to supply and demand. Less product and more demand means that values will go higher.

The most expensive Beanie Boo is the six inch Ghosty the ghost. One sold on eBay on April 7, 2013 for $179.95. The auction description stated that the hang tag had a very slight crease. So it might have sold for even more if the hang tag was mint. Ghosty was an exclusive UK Boos that was released on 2010 and sold out on November 12, 2010.

The next expensive Boo is the six inch Kooky the koala bear. One sold on eBay in February 15, 2013 for $151.10. Kooky was first introduced in the UK on October 1, 2009. It sold out on June 28, 2010. A second version of Kooky was later released in the United States. The auction description doesn’t state whether the Kooky being sold was released in the UK or the US. I would think that the first one from the UK would be more valuable.

The final Boo that sells in the hundred dollar price range is the six inch Kiwi the frog. One sold on eBay on March 14, 2013 for $129.95. Kiwi was first introduced only in the UK on June 10, 2009. A second version was later released in the US on October 1, 2009. Again the auction description doesn’t state whether the Kiwi being sold was from the UK or the US.

Today the Beanie Boos seems to be more popular than the Beanie Babies. Many people think they are very cute with their big eyes and big heads. Will they gain value over time? Your guess is as good as mine!
